When a mysterious stranger suddenly appears in this trapped housewife’s life, Betty must surrender to the passions raging inside of her. spring, creek, brook (working title) is a queer dystopian love story with song, set in the year 3030. The ravages of fire, floods, famine, and plagues have nearly obliterated mankind. Those left alive are tasked with repopulating the human species. Homosexuality is strictly forbidden and punishable by death. Betty, is married with seven children, as the law dictates, but she has this hunger inside of her. And that spring, on her 40th birthday, something awakens. This is the story of that awakening.

In this play with song, we explore climate change and its impact on social politics, sex and aging, and queer identity under the foot of religion. spring, creek, brook (working title) uses biblical imagery mixed with old Norse Mythology to create a post-apocalyptic, sexy, wild, and funny story of forbidden romance in the after-times.

spring creek brook was presented in April 2022 as part of Rumble Theatre’s Untold Stories Live: Ostara.
