about Jenny

Jenny is a writer, director, performer, and producer. She holds an MFA from the University of British Columbia, Department of Theatre & Film (2019). Jenny served as Artistic Director of Salvage Vanguard Theater in Austin, TX from 2008-2019 and has directed over 30 world premiere productions. She is the incoming Artistic Director for the Trinity Street Players, launching her first season in 2023. She was named Best of Austin “Theater Director” by the Austin Chronicle (2016). In 2019, Jenny started making plays with their spouse khattie as jkjk. In 2021, Jenny was a member of The Arts Club’s Emerging Playwrights Unit and wrote Desperately Seeking Comfortable Shoes. In 2021 they were also awarded a spot in the Canadian Digital Dramaturgy Initiative at the Playwright Theatre Centre, the Fall Intensive at the Workshop Theatre in NYC, and the GVPTA Digital Connections program to develop jkjk script always boy. In May 2022, always boy was developed at the New Harmony Project in Indiana. In 2020, Jenny co-created, wrote, and directed Catalina La O Presenta: Now With Me starring their spouse and creative partner khattieQ. The piece was winner of the 2020 Vancouver Fringe New Play Prize and the film version screened as part of the OUTsider Festival in February 2022 in Austin, TX and in June 2nd 2022 at the Ars Nova ANT Fest in NYC. Catalina La O premiered live in June 2022 presented by the Queer Arts Festival. In April 2022 their short piece spring creek brook performed at Rumble Theatre’s Untrue Stories Live event. In June 2022 Jenny was a member of the Playwrights Gym at the Green Thumb in Vancouver, learning to write TYA theatre. In October 2022, Jenny co-directed the world premiere of Adrienne Dawes’ Casta at the Blanton Museum of Art for Salvage Vanguard Theater with khattieQ. Her script Desperately Seeking Comfortable Shoes premiered in June of 2023 as part of Jenny’s first season at Trinity St Playhouse. Jenny’s work has shown in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Austin, New York, Finland, and Bulgaria.
