The Solstice and Equinox symbolize the transition of seasons, rebirth, and renewal. Let’s come together and celebrate the changing seasons as a community. Please join us for JK’s Just Kidding, a seasonal variety show featuring artists across mediums hailing from Austin and beyond. 

ABOUT THE FALL EQUINOX PERFORMANCE: The weekend of the Fall Equinox we have performances by improv artist Shannon Stott, musician BRUCE, dancer Aida Reyes, and a screening by filmmaker PJ Raval. Immediately following the performances join us for an artist reception celebrating Michael Anthony Garcia, and the opening of their exhibit “sit with it” in the 4th Floor Gallery.

Shannon Stott is the Creator and Director of Improv | On and Off the Stage, an Improv Production Company, producing live and virtual projects that help people connect to themselves and others through Improv.  Shannon has been performing, directing and teaching Improv for over 25 years in the US and internationally. She uses Improv to highlight the importance of communication across cultures and with self. Shannon considers Improv a practice, encouraging people to engage with Improv as a way to discover more about themselves and others in order to bridge gaps in cultural understanding. 

BRUCE says “you're home alone in the shower; you're singing "all by myself" by celine dion at the top of your lungs while ice cold water prickles your skin into that of a chicken. from somewhere that seems far away, a stadium full of people throw flowers at your feet and chant your name. your name is BRUCE. BRUCE is an art rock project. BRUCE got ready for sunday school all by herself. her debut album "must love teeth" was released july 11, 2025.”

PJ Raval is an award-winning filmmaker. Growing up as a queer, birthright citizen as a first-generation Filipino American in a small, white, conservative town in California’s central valley, PJ’s outsider experience greatly shaped his filmmaking practice. Recognized as one of Out Magazine’s OUT 100 and named American Documentary | POV’s Creative Visionary of 2024, PJ’s films have been featured on platforms including Netflix, Hulu, PBS, Discovery, and Showtime, and has been supported by the Bertha Foundation, Arcus Foundation, Sundance, Center for Asian-American Media, Tribeca Film Institute, the MacArthur Foundation and the Ford Foundation. PJ is a 2015 Guggenheim Fellow, 2016 Firelight Media Fellow, 2017 Robert Giard Fellow, 2021 Soros Justice Fellow, 2024 USA Artist Fellow and Producers Guild of America member, and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences where he also serves as the Chair of Asian Affinity Group and sits on the Documentary Branch Executive Committee. https://unraval.com/

Aída Hernandez-Reyes is a freelance dancer/performer/choreographer and interdisciplinary artist based in Austin, Texas. Their training spans from local Austin studios to programs with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, Sidra Bell, B12, and the University of Texas at Austin from which they received a BFA in dance and performance. Aída has worked with Jesse Zaritt, Michiyaya, Valleto, Sarah J Bartholomew, Mama Duke, Thee Gay Agenda, Andrew Schneider and Annie Saunders, Kelsey Oliver, Joy Alpuerto Ritter, ARCOS, Salvage Vanguard Theater, Performa/Dance, JKJK, and more. Their creative process is inspired by a motivation to build stamina, rest, be upside down, craft and diy, appreciate the mundane, notice the sublime, and examine and embody their multiracial queer experience of the world around them. 

Audio Description will be provided at every JK’s Just Kidding performance: June 21st, Sept 22nd, and Dec 21st
